The Media Specialist Community link in ODIE was unveiled at our Library Media Specialist meeting held on November 10th at ESU 10.  This Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a fantastic tool to help us share ideas and information to list great books, share helpful hints, etc.  For example: One of the librarians wrote asking what to do with all of the books that she weeded from her library.  From that question she received several helpful suggestions from other librarians. All those who have an ODIE/Community account were able to read all of the comments as well. Now that's communication!

Here are some useful tips for getting around the Media Specialist Community.
  • Tip 1:  To view the Media Specialists community, Go to https://odie.esu10.org and scroll on the left side to Communities and open that link.  Then scroll down to the bright red page and click on that link or type http://media.communities.esu10.org into your browser address bar.
  • Tip 2: You must login to comment on an article or to create a new article.
  • Tip 3:  When you are creating a new article and are ready to publish it, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Take Out of Draft Mode.’   If you previously saved the article as a draft you will need to edit the article by clicking on the pencil to see the ‘Take Out of Draft Mode ’ button.
  • Tip 4:  Most of all…have fun!
